‘Become more defensive: This unit’s inability to stop opponents in the postseason is ultimately what’s prevented the Bills from getting over the playoff hump and what got Sean McDermott fired. Try as they may – and General Manager Brandon Beane certainly has tried with a bevy of high draft picks and highly publicized free agent signings – Buffalo hasn’t fielded enough game-changers on defense; guys who can close out games with extreme quarterback pressure and turnovers. McDermott’s bend-but-don’t-break philosophy will be replaced by a more aggressive approach by new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. We’ll see if an attacking, high-risk, high-reward style makes a difference and if Leonhard has enough studs to make it work.’
